About Me
Hello! I’m Nick Eppler, CFP®, founder of Sonar Wealth. I am an Advice-Only financial planner, and I help career changers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and military veterans.
Here are a few fun facts about me:
1. I served in the US Navy from 2007 to 2012 on a “Fast Attack” submarine called The USS Columbus.
2. Cleveland, Ohio, is my hometown but I currently live in the Chicago area. My family consists of my amazing wife, Erica- my son, Noah- and our crazy cats!
3. When I am not working, you can find me at the gym, spending time with the family, and/or watching the latest TV shows on all of the various streaming services.
Why did I start a financial planning firm?
Since leaving the military, I’ve gone through my fair share of job changes. Each transition required careful financial planning to ensure I could maintain my cash flow needs, optimize my work-life balance, and stay on track for retirement.
Eventually, I became a financial planner to share the strategies that helped me navigate my own career transitions. After working at several well-known firms, I realized I could offer more comprehensive services, which led me to start Sonar Wealth.
Do I only work with military veterans?
No! Being a veteran, I enjoy serving other veterans, and I also work with professionals from all backgrounds, regardless of their career situation or military experience.
