About Me

I specialize in navigating complex financial situations with clarity and confidence. I invest a substantial amount of time to fully understand each client’s unique goals and challenges - delivering thoughtful, tailored strategies that go far beyond a one-size-fits-all approach.

I take an educational approach, with a goal of empowering the client to understand how their finances work and feel confident in the plan.

Below is a glimpse into just a few of the complex, highly personalized planning journeys I’ve supported clients through.

- Home purchase and sale analysis. Determining affordability, how much to put down, whether to sell vs. rent the current property.

- Whole life insurance review. Evaluate policies, spelling out in plain English how they work, and determining how to reduce costs and maximize value - whether to keep / surrender / 1035 exchange to an annuity. Create a plan for replacing with a term life insurance "ladder", if appropriate.

- Tax planning. Review prior year's tax returns to make sure nothing looks incorrect / unusual. Project current tax liability, helping to avoid surprises about whether you'll have a refund vs. owe money in April. Make best use of the tax code to minimize tax liability, and to save in the most tax efficient way. Help reduce tax penalties by updating paycheck withholdings, or making quarterly estimated tax payments.

- Business planning. Review tax election and evaluate options to reduce taxes. Review employer retirement plans and make suggestions about how to supercharge savings. Look into whether there are additional eligible deductions.

- Estate planning. Help clients create an outline of their wishes for estate distribution. Refer to an attorney or DIY service to create estate documents. Ensure asset titling and beneficiary designations match the intent of the estate plan.

- Employer stock benefits. Explain in plain English how an employer's Restricted Stock Units (RSU) plan or Employer Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) work, including the tax implications of receiving benefits or selling stock. Create an investment plan for company stock, taking into account the size relative to total investment portfolio / net worth.

- Funding child education costs (K-12 and/or College). Project how much current savings will cover, and how much additional savings is needed to fully fund. Evaluate and recommend the best savings vehicle (often a 529 account). Help select investment options.

- Manage inherited assets. Create a plan for distributing an Inherited IRA within the required window (10 years starting the year after death for a non-spouse beneficiary), considering the tax implications of withdrawals. Help direct funds towards the highest priority financial goals.

- And much, much more!

HOW I WORK:

I offer advice without the need to manage investments. No account minimums. Expert planning, tailored to your needs – whether through hourly, project-based, or ongoing engagements.

PLAN MORE, WORRY LESS.

Career highlight... Helping clients achieve their financial and life goals, and along the way building a myriad of deeply personal and trusting relationships.

Outside work hours, you will find me... Enjoying the great outdoors with my wife Kate, son Albert, and Standard Poodle Calvin. I do it all, but my first love is fly fishing.
